Missing: Catherine Holstein

Dear Readers,

Perhaps you can help me, but where oh where has my dear dear designer Catherine Holstein gone? Saks appears to have dropped her and everyone else online is only carrying sale goods from last summer. I loved Fall 2009 and had read that she was working to keep the price point below $500 (or $600 was it). This one time I even met her head of PR in Vue once and they promised me tickets to the show (i was wearing one of her sweaters). SO in fact,

Dear Catherine,

Would you please let me know what has happened to you.. I would hate to have lost you too this last year. Are you on hiatus? It's ok, we understand that times are tough, but you do make beautiful, intelligent clothes. What am I to wear with my black lipstick now? I've been ripping off your looks for sometime - help a girl out.

xoxoxo

Nothing but Skins

I just LOVE Tom Ford's Spring Ad Campaign!

Cheeky tan lines on Carolyn Murphy. Cheeky grin on Nicholas Hoult (who also stars in Ford's a "A Single Man")

Hoult just has so much presence here. Those eyes! That hair! I don't feel that it is often that the male model is able to outshine their female counterpart, but wow.

It's great to see Hoult's evolution from Tony in "Skins", which between him and Dev Patel is becoming quite the spring board for careers, to this. Tony was such a great antihero and I keep thinking of him in his bed with those naked sheets.

Best of the Globes!

With the New Year, I have resolved to be a more positive person and as such, will only be counting down the 5 BEST fashion moments of last nights Golden Globes. (I will also be trying to be a less is more kinda gal and am limiting myself to 5)

In order:

1) Diane Kruger in Christian Lacroix Haute Couture. WOW - the tonal pinks are truly mesmerizing like a really perfect macaron from laudrée.

2) January Jones in Lanvin. This is such a timeless, beautiful look but necessarily an red-carpet one. Jones is smoking even covering up with the high neckline.

3) OMG - Anna Paquin brought it in Stella. She looks so grown up and radiant. Gold dresses for the Golden Globes could be over played but man-o-man - with those big black shoes, the mcqueen clutch and her hunky beau, Ms. Paquin is rockin' it.

4) Another score for the cast of Mad Men! Christina Hendricks and all her assets might be the only person on earth who can pull off what in any other situation would make that Christian Siriano into a bridesmaid disaster....

5) Julia Roberts in Vintage YSL. She isn't my fav as far as style goes, but going against the red carpet time, Roberts looks so graceful against all the fussy fishtails and spankx. This is a great look for her - it reminds us of that girl next door allure that everyone is always so atwitter about her.

** Crud in post script - i meant to have Julianne Moore in Balenciaga on this list but it seems unfair to take Christina off as men's choice.
